At the beginning of 2025, I hit pause on my corporate dreams. Something wasn’t clicking. I needed joy, freedom, and a spark that made me feel like me again. So, I asked myself—when was I truly the happiest and most unapologetically myself? The answer hit me like a splash of neon paint: college.

See, I didn’t go to business school. My degree? A Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts. I’ve always loved drawing, but back then, I was stuck between pursuing psychology (with a dean I definitely didn’t respect) and… well, something else. But what?! Then one slow afternoon in the tutoring lab where I worked, I started sketching my beautiful sister. A passing colleague glanced over and said, “You’re really good. You should do something with that.” And just like that, I enrolled in my first art class since middle school.

College had always been exhilarating—the intense learning, the challenge of stretching what you know into what could be. But when I added painting and design into the mix? Everything clicked. The energy on campus sang to me, and my competitive, curious nature thrived.

So, what does that mean for today? Should I go back to school? Nope! That’s expensive. And I just walked away from a corporate career. What I need is to bet on myself—to pick up my paintbrush, dust off my creativity, and invest in the talent I never fully pursued.
